In the most recent episode of Podcast And Chill, MacG and his team examined the scandal involving Anele Mdoda’s husband related to COVID-19 PPE tenders.
While discussing the issue, MacG along with Sol Phenduka supported the 947 radio presenter, giving reasons for their stance.
MacG comments on Anele’s position in Buzza James’ PPE scandal
On April 2, 2026, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) directed Bonelela Mgudlwa and his former business partner, Katleho Mokonyane, to repay R14.3 million due to an irregular COVID-19 PPE contract. Instead of acknowledging the situation, Anele Mdoda continued to post jokes on social media as if nothing was amiss.
This behavior irked many, leading to criticism directed at her. It was only after she restricted her X account to limit the backlash that the conversations calmed down. In her defense, MacG noted that Anele has a significant public image to maintain, suggesting that she would not engage with someone embroiled in such a controversy.
“Do you know how meticulous Anele is? Everything is strategic. Even now, she has a five-year plan of what her life would look like. Do you think someone that meticulous would let that slide?” MacG posed.
Sol offered his perspective on the relationship between Anele and Buzza James, providing bold insights.
“I think maybe she was too desperate for love, but knowing Anele, she wouldn’t have subscribed to this,” MacG suggested.
Sol further claimed that Anele was unaware of the allegations regarding the PPE discrepancies, stating, “Because she has a huge reputation to protect.” He emphasized that it is common for individuals not to be fully aware of their partner’s past actions and circumstances.
“You don’t know your partner’s browser history, you don’t know their body count or the biggest lies they have ever told. Yet, you expect Anele to have known somehow, plus he is an advocate, so when she met this businessman who has money, she’s not thinking he might have gotten it through a shady deal,” Sol added.
