  • MaWhoo’s representatives released a statement indicating that the artist was unable to perform at the RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 event at Sun City due to a grave racial attack while traveling
  • The incident caused substantial damage to their tour bus, resulting in delays that prevented them from arriving despite attempts to resolve the situation
  • The management team extended apologies to fans and stakeholders while committing to pursue justice against those responsible
Mzansi’s amapiano artist MaWhoo faced a challenging start to 2026 as her team released a statement describing a racial attack that forced her to cancel her New Year’s Eve performance.

Known by her real name, Ntobeko Ngema, the singer was scheduled to perform at the RustyRocks Metro FM Tap Into 2026 event at Sun City Resort but was unable to attend due to an unforeseen incident during transit.

As per the statement shared on X by Piano Connect, while traveling from a previous gig to Sun City, MaWhoo and her team encountered a serious racial incident and attack.

Consequently, their touring bus suffered significant damage, leading to long delays. Despite efforts to coordinate with RustyRocks organizers, time constraints forced MaWhoo to miss her performance slot, following her recent critique of Ukhozi FM’s song of the year voting system.

Management expresses regret for the cancellation

The management team expressed profound regret regarding the incident, recognizing the disappointment it caused for anticipating fans and partners.

They stressed that the situation was entirely beyond the singer’s control and noted the emotional impact on all those involved.

In their commitment to transparency, they issued sincere apologies and pledged to rectify the situation wherever possible.

Additionally, the statement confirmed that information concerning the attackers has been compiled, with plans to take legal action.
