  • Mzambiya has officially announced his retirement from the music industry following a nearly 30-year career
  • The renowned child star and Kwaito icon expressed his appreciation for the support from his fans over the years and shared his excitement for future endeavors
  • His announcement has garnered a spectrum of responses, reflecting opinions from both dedicated supporters and critics

After numerous discussions and speculation, Kwaito icon Mzambiya has made his retirement from the music industry official, signaling the conclusion of a notable chapter for the former child star.

After an impressive 27-year journey, where he evolved from a young talent to a well-respected figure in the industry, the Jersey #10 creator stated that it was time to put away the microphone and concentrate on other pursuits.

In 2024, Briefly News provided insights into the Kwaito star’s future plans, which included mentoring emerging musical talent through his record label, Earth Nurture Records.

“After much consideration, I have decided to take a different direction in my career and pursue new opportunities. However, Earth Nurture Records continues unearthing new talent and releasing music as promised.”

Mzambiya, whose real name is Nkosinathi Zwane, burst onto the scene as a pre-teen in the early 2000s, quickly establishing himself as a prominent figure in a new wave of Kwaito music.

At just 12 years old, he rose to fame with his debut single Mele Senzeni, demonstrating his exceptional talent regardless of his age as he topped the South African music charts.

The artist-turned-heartthrob conveyed his heartfelt thanks to the fans who have supported him throughout his career.

“I’m truly grateful for all the love since my debut in 2000.”

Mzansi reacts to Mzambiya’s retirement

Fans recollected Mzambiya’s influence on the music scene.

LungaMrhetjha stated:

“This brother is talented. His music was a great part of our childhood and teen years. I wish him all the best in his new endeavours.’

Kwenkosi expressed:

“That’s sad; we are going to miss him in the music industry. It’s always better to quit while you are still on top.”

Spykos_Za commented:

“I wish him well.”

Mavusojames noted:

“As a fan, I’m disappointed.”

Conversely, some suggested that Mzambiya’s career had already stagnated before his retirement was announced.

Teffo_ME remarked:

“No offence, but didn’t it end after those few songs he did 16 years ago?”

ThisguyKANZ added:

“He wasn’t relevant for 10 straight years.”

Sibuzakes inquired:

“Did his music career end after he released the Ndlozi Lami album? ‘Cause we never heard any song from him.”

Cheri_flavour was perplexed:

“Bathong. He was still an artist? Where?”
