A recent video has gained traction on social media, featuring a man who identifies himself as a co-founder of Sun-El Musician’s record label, alleging that the prominent DJ and producer has withheld upwards of R10 million in royalties and payments since 2021. The video, released on August 20, 2026, is unpolished and candid, reflecting the speaker’s emotions.
The individual in the clip, known as Sphethelo Nkosi from eSanele, claims he co-founded EL World Music with Sanele Sithole, also recognized as Sun-El Musician. He asserts that they were friends prior to establishing the label together and that as co-directors, they signed various artists to the label, including Azana, Simmy, among others.
Nkosi’s allegations against Sun-El Musician
Nkosi claims that beginning in 2021, Sun-El took unilateral control of the business. Since that time, Nkosi asserts he has not received any share of the label’s proceeds. He mentions that unpaid royalties alone exceed R7 million, and a separate payment from Mama Sings is said to surpass R5 million, totaling the alleged unpaid amount to over R10 million.
“There’s ama royalties that exceed seven million, of which nami there’s a percentage belongs to me,” Nkosi said in the video, adding that artists who contributed creatively also had not been accounted for. He stated that emails sent to Sun-El since 2021 had gone unanswered, prompting him to take the matter to social media.
Furthermore, Nkosi claims that an unnamed female artist has worked on the Sonini project for more than nine years without receiving compensation. He indicated that he personally covered her private schooling expenses in the early stages of the label.
“You are not the sole owner of EL World. You are not. But why are you doing this to people?” he said, addressing Sun-El directly in the clip. He emphasized that his motives were not to seek public attention but to express his frustrations.
