As per reports, the attempt to murder charge was raised after the victim’s situation deteriorated, and he remained in critical condition at the hospital.
Sekeleni purportedly stated that he struck the unnamed man because he was allegedly trying to rob him.
The South African reported on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, that charges against Magudumana’s brother were formally filed.
He made his appearance in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 9 February 2026, alongside two other individuals related to the incident.
According to IOL, the trio was initially charged with assault intended to inflict serious bodily harm but this was elevated to attempted murder as the victim’s health continued to be critical.
The three individuals were released on warning as investigations proceed and are scheduled to appear in court again in March.
Sekeleni has gained public attention previously due to his connection with his sister, Dr Nandipha Magudumana, who is associated with convicted criminal Thabo Bester.
He also generated media coverage earlier when he responded to social media assertions that his mother was seen in tears during court proceedings related to the widely publicized case.
