Nota Claims Emtee Will Face Consequences for His Actions

Known for tracks such as “Roll Up,” Emtee appeared to be in a troubling emotional state during his Instagram Live, where he broke down in tears. He disclosed that approximately R700,000 in royalties from his 2018 album Logan, which was managed by Platoon from January 2021 to February 2023, had not been received by him or his label, Emtee Records.

As detailed in a legal affidavit and reports by Emtee, there were changes made to the banking details associated with these payments that did not correspond to his accounts, raising alarms about potential mismanagement or misconduct. Fans and peers showed significant concern following his emotional display, with many encouraging support for Emtee in light of his ongoing difficulties, including previous challenges with substance use and family issues.

In reaction to the situation, Nota Baloyi, recognized for his forthright remarks, turned to social media with a sharply worded statement. He commented: “Emtee will suffer for his stupidity, I tried helping the boy & he spat in my face… Now his kids get to bully him back!”

This statement appears to allude to ongoing tensions between Nota and Emtee, including Nota’s previous public criticisms of Emtee’s career and lifestyle choices. Notably, Nota has developed a reputation as an outspoken figure within the industry who frequently addresses artists about issues like royalties and accountability, resonating with the challenges that Emtee currently faces.

The remarks prompted a mix of responses on social media. While some users praised Nota’s tough-love stance, others criticized it as lacking sensitivity during Emtee’s moment of vulnerability. Supporters of Emtee contended that he warranted compassion rather than scorn, particularly in view of the claims regarding missing royalties.
