Okmalumkoolkat Announces Delay for ‘iTheku eThekwini’ Album Release. Durban rapper Okmalumkoolkat has decided to postpone the launch of his eagerly awaited album iTheku eThekwini by a week, revealing a new release date. What was initially set for October 15, 2026, will now take place on October 22, 2026.

In a transparent update, the artist elaborated on his reasons for rescheduling, stating he wanted to address issues regarding online engagement and audience awareness of the upcoming project.
“Quite a lot in the comments there, but we just felt like the engagement was quite low and also just amatamani bebena, this thing is dropping,” he said. “So we pushed it back by literally a week. It’s gonna drop on the 22nd of October. The 22nd, please save. It’s in my bio. You can actually have the link in my bio.”
This additional week allows Okmalumkoolkat to enhance promotion for iTheku eThekwini, which reflects his roots in Durban and distinct style within South African hip-hop.
The album draws from a wealth of experiences and information spanning 2020 to 2025, a timeframe that has significantly influenced its artistic vision. Fans have already had a preview of the album through the singles “Into Yabantu Ababili” and “Soon As I Land,” featuring Tony Dayimane.
Both tracks showcase Okmalumkoolkat‘s unique fusion of innovative hip-hop, exploratory production, and cultural influences that shape his music.
The initial announcement of the album came alongside an eye-catching collage that celebrated Durban’s essence, incorporating images of Moses Mabhida Stadium, coastal features, Zulu dancers, and the city’s dynamic urban scenery.
With the revised release date official, Okmalumkoolkat is encouraging fans to mark October 22 and utilize the pre-save link available in his Instagram bio.
While the release has been pushed back by a week, excitement continues to grow for iTheku eThekwini, as the artist gets ready to showcase his latest work. The Future Mfana will now make his return on October 22.
