New information has come to light regarding Bradley Barcola’s transfer to Liverpool, with the club from the Premier League agreeing to a deal that totals £123 million for the Paris Saint-Germain forward.
Softfootball reports that the final amount is made up of £106 million in base fee, supplemented by £17 million in potential add-ons, as PSG adjusted their original asking price of £145 million down to a figure Liverpool found acceptable.
PSG aimed to achieve a transfer fee exceeding that of previous deals, such as the £117 million transfer of Morgan Rogers and the £116 million transfer for Elliot Anderson. Additionally, matching or surpassing the €140 million package that took Yan Diomande to Real Madrid was a significant target for the French club.
This transaction marks another significant sale for PSG, who have brought in nearly €400 million from the sale of players considered surplus to their needs this summer.
Barcola has reached an agreement on personal terms for a five-year contract with Liverpool and is anticipated to finalize his £123 million transfer in the upcoming days.
As reported two days earlier, Liverpool has signed off on a preliminary agreement with PSG for their primary target following several challenging negotiations.
Barcola became the main target for Liverpool after their unsuccessful attempts to sign Diomande, while PSG’s acquisition of Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres, and Mika Godts facilitated Barcola’s exit.
Personal terms have been settled, with the final details expected to be completed on Friday morning. Barcola will then undergo a medical examination before signing a long-term deal.
Barcola’s speed, skill on the ball, movement, and versatility enhance his appeal for Liverpool’s attacking strategy. The PSG player is capable of playing on either wing and can also function in a central role, offering Liverpool valuable adaptability in their offensive play.
The 23-year-old’s attributes, including his pace, dribbling technique, and ability to maneuver across the width of the pitch, were significant factors for Liverpool, providing greater attacking options under Andoni Iraola.
