Rachel Kolisi is concentrating on her children as she adapts to life following her separation from Springboks captain Siya Kolisi.
In a revealing interview on 947 Radio with Anele Mdoda, Rachel addressed a question many facing similar situations ponder: her feelings about another woman potentially taking on a maternal role in her children’s lives.
Instead of engaging in speculation, Rachel emphasized that her primary focus remains on motherhood.
“You know, I… I can only parent the best that I can and that is my priority, everything else, none of my business,” she said.
Her statement illustrates a practical outlook as she transitions into this new phase after parting ways with Siya, whom she was married to for eight years before their separation in October 2024.
The couple has two children, Nicholas and Keziah, and they also took care of Siya’s younger siblings, Liyema and Liphelo, whom they embraced within their family.
During the discussion, Rachel reflected on the personal sacrifices she made during the early days of their family life. She shared her experience of stepping back from her career shortly after the birth of their first child and the adoption of Siya’s siblings just months later.
Describing that period as “horrific,” she disclosed the challenges she faced regarding financial independence, explaining how she had to depend on her then-husband for everyday personal expenses.
As she now works to rebuild her life, Rachel is focused on creating stability and ensuring she is fully present for her children, avoiding distractions about what lies ahead beyond her role as a mother.
