Lady X, known as Xolisa Mvula, is recuperating from injuries sustained during a troubling confrontation with her former partner.
The accomplished singer-songwriter, recognized for her collaborations with DJ Maphorisa and Tyler ICU, is presently residing in a hotel in eastern Johannesburg after reportedly escaping from a violent episode.
A close friend revealed that the singer took flight after tensions mounted during a car ride with her partner. Allegations suggest that he exited the vehicle while it was still in motion, pushing her out and leaving her stranded until someone passing by intervened to help her.
The pair allegedly met last November while attending a traditional healing initiation school. “They met in a spiritual space where emotions feel amplified,” a friend explained. “It wasn’t a typical dating environment; everything felt intense and fast.”
While the friend observed that there had been no previous indications of physical abuse, the circumstances reportedly became volatile a few nights ago when the partner was heavily intoxicated. “She was left bruised. She went to the police station and he was briefly detained, but no formal case was opened. He was released once he sobered up,” the friend shared.
Currently, Lady X has vacated their shared living arrangement and is in the process of relocating her possessions with the assistance of the police.
Looking forward, Lady X remarked: “I have been away from the music scene for a long time, focusing on my growth and how I want to present myself. All these negative experiences are lessons that will surely help me create great songs.”
