  • Black Coffee, a prominent South African musician, appears to have rekindled his collaboration with his former bandmates from Shana
  • He shared on Instagram, where one of the band members publicly confirmed their reunion through studio photos and videos
  • Fans are reacting positively, expressing their anticipation for new music

Fans of music can look forward to new offerings as Black Coffee reconnects with his former band members.

Who is Shana?

Black Coffee, Mnqobi Mdabe, and Demor founded the group Shana, which disbanded following their last album in 2009.

As noted by Discogs, Shana stands for Simply Hot And Naturally African. The trio established the group in 1997 while studying at Natal Technikon, which later became part of Durban University of Technology. Coffee and Shoba had met in high school in the Eastern Cape.

Their discography includes songs like Iyo Londaba, Shende Lami, and Forever Yours. They not only focused on their own music, but also collaborated with the late Lebo Mathosa and produced tracks with Oskido’s Kalawa Jazmee label.

Fans excited for Shana’s reunion

On Instagram, Demor posted a photo of their studio session at the end of February, captioned, “In the Lab with the original crew of SHANA.”

He followed up with a video showcasing their new music the next day. Earlier in 2024, Demor posted a photo of the trio spending time together, which led to speculation regarding their reunion, although he initially downplayed the rumors.

This piqued the interest of their fans, who are both eager and anxious about the reunion.

Mzawandile Ntuli remarked:

“This song was ahead of time. I don’t know if I can use that term in music, but I’m trying to explain the artistry behind this record. Yes, it’s a classic, but you can release it now kuzoba ngathi intsha kanti cha indala. What a masterpiece.”

Unathi.co expressed excitement:

“THIXO ONOFEFE! We thank God for this reunion. Camagu.”

Kanene_slondile added:

“Haven’t heard this song in a while, but yoh, it still feels very relevant. We have been waiting for this non-stop.”

Mzwandile shared his enthusiasm:

“Sooo happy for this. Full Circle boys. The sound is still the same. Yessss!”

Thericeisblack asked:

“What are you guys doing there? Please share. They say that sharing is caring. Now, share.”
