Shimza and his partner, Athi Geleba, are again in the spotlight following a social media update that has sparked fresh discussion regarding their future together.
The couple, who have been together for 12 years, typically keep their personal lives private, yet one fashionable Instagram snapshot was enough to capture the attention of the public.
Athi, who holds the position of Head of Digital Communications for the ANC, shared a photo featuring herself and Shimza on 27 November 2025.
In matching black attire, the two appeared stylish and at ease. “All black everything,” she wrote alongside the photo, complementing her elegant black dress and oversized sunglasses with the Jacquemus Le Petit Regalo Bag, valued at over R19,000.
Shimza took the picture, sporting a simple outfit consisting of a fitted t-shirt, tinted glasses, and a silver wristwatch.
The post quickly gained traction on X, where MDNnews suggested the couple was celebrating their 12-year relationship.
However, Athi’s Instagram indicates they actually celebrated their anniversary on 24 March, marked by roses and a nostalgic photographic throwback to their earlier days.
Nevertheless, this misunderstanding did not prevent online users from engaging in a vigorous debate about the couple’s future steps.
Numerous commenters insisted that after 12 years, the possibility of marriage should be considered, urging Shimza to “pop the question” and questioning why they have not yet made that commitment.
In 2024, Shimza was accused of managing multiple long-term relationships simultaneously, including with Athi and his former partner, media figure K Naomi, who has since moved on and married.
