Starting on Wednesday, 6 May, motorists in South Africa will experience a significant increase in fuel prices.
The cost of petrol (both 93 and 95 octane) will rise by R3.27 per litre, while diesel will see an increase of R6.19 per litre. In addition, illuminating paraffin will go up R4.22 per litre, and LP Gas will increase by R5.07 per kilogram.
These price hikes come in the wake of the partial end of a temporary government relief levy of R3 per litre, set against the backdrop of rising global oil prices caused by tensions in the Middle East.
The public has expressed strong concern regarding the anticipated repercussions on transport costs, food prices, and overall living expenses.
Further changes to fuel prices are anticipated in June.
