Funeral details for renowned South African performer Soli Philander have been revealed following his recent death after a prolonged struggle with cancer.
The 65-year-old actor, comedian, and playwright passed away on 4 March 2026, leaving a diverse legacy that touches theatre, television, and children’s programming.
Philander was especially known for his portrayal of Timothy Traddle, the tortoise character on the beloved SABC1 children’s show Kideo, earning him recognition among numerous generations of viewers.

As per the announcement, Philander’s funeral service is set for 11:00 on Saturday, 14 March 2026.
This service will occur at the New Apostolic Church in the Silvertown Congregation located on Durant Road, Athlone, Cape Town.
Additionally, the event will be live-streamed on social media, providing fans and supporters the opportunity to pay their respects from afar.
A private cremation will follow the funeral service.
