Online users question Tebogo Mashego’s apology to DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri
Musician Tebogo Mashego, known for the song Biri Marung, has apologized to DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri following his claim that they owed him a significant amount of money.
Mashego drew attention recently after he asserted in a widely circulated video that the Scorpion Kings were indebted to him for R23 million, which led to considerable online debate.
A new video surfaced on X on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, shared by user @TheAudioLab, in which Mashego retracted his previous statements.
In the footage, Mashego cites his mental health as a factor for his earlier remarks, stating,
“Eh, guys, mental breakdown. I have a lot to say, but today I came to apologise. I swore at my big brothers. But, 2Woshort are byao (2 short said so). I apologise for swearing at DJ Maphorisa and DJ Karri. I’m only apologising for swearing, but everything else, 2Woshort are byao.”
This apology reignited discussion online, with many netizens observing that it seemed more like a conditional apology.
One commenter remarked, “He is only apologising for swearing at them; the rest is true because 2Woshort are byao.”
Another responded, “After all the talk about witchcraft, snakes, drugs, having a calling, illuminati, sacrifice, bloodline, ancestors, initiation, etc., he attributes it to a mental breakdown?”
A humorous addition came from another user, who quipped, “New haircut, new shirt, no Sprite, the only thing left is to remove the nail polish.”
