Radio host Thato Immaculate has announced her split from husband Gashwan Brandon Mthombeni ‘Gash 1’, bringing their three-year marriage to a close.
The couple, who met during Big Brother Mzansi Season 3, had gained popularity as one of the show’s notable pairs, with fans closely following their journey from reality television to family life.
In a statement issued over the weekend, Thato explained that the end of their relationship stemmed from recent incidents she described as “irreconcilable” with her values.
“After three years of marriage, Gashwan Brandon Mthombeni and I are no longer together,” she stated.
“Following incidents that happened the past few days that are irreconcilable by my standards and values, I have made the decision to walk away.”
She mentioned that both families have been engaged in conversations regarding the separation and are informed of her choice.
“Our families have met to discuss the matters, and as I have shared with them and in his presence, this is a decision I stand firm on,” she added.
Despite the interest from the public concerning their relationship, Thato emphasized her wish to keep further details private and to avoid any conflict.
“I respectfully ask that this does not turn into a That vs Gash1 battle… Out of respect for our families and for the sake of my son, I will not be going into further details.”
Thato also expressed the emotional toll of the breakup, revealing that she is heartbroken but intends to move on.
“For me I am heartbroken but I need to soldier on and continue working,” she said.
Reflecting on her choice, Thato reaffirmed her dedication to her principles, even amidst challenges.
“I would have never wanted to raise my child alone; however, I have always maintained that there are certain non-negotiables I cannot compromise on… I will not betray myself.”
She concluded by stating that this would be her last public statement on the topic, recognizing Gash1 as her child’s father and thanking her supporters.
“Moving forward, it will just be me and my baby, and I am fully focused on building a healthy, happy future for us.”
