Tropika Island of Treasure is making its official comeback with the eagerly awaited 12th season, bringing a renewed sense of excitement, fierce competition, celebrity allure, and, naturally, an abundance of thrilling moments.
Set against the breathtaking scenery of Réunion Island, this new season aims to take both contestants and viewers on an extraordinary adventure packed with high-pressure challenges, surprising developments, and the stunning natural allure of one of the Indian Ocean’s most enchanting locales.
The 12th season is set to launch on Wednesdays starting 23 September at 21:00 on SABC 1, with encore presentations every Thursday beginning 24 September at 18:00 on S3.
From physical contests that will challenge stamina and resilience to cerebral games requiring tactics, collaboration, and grit, the upcoming season will once again push contestants to their limits as celebrities team up with ordinary participants in pursuit of the prize.
The star-studded cast
The lineup of celebrities this season features Nadia Nakai, Caster Semenya, Francois Hougaard, Leandie du Randt, Sandile Mahlangu, Amanda du-Pont, Lalela Mswane, and Wiseman Mncube, who will be partnered with eight contestants from the audience whose identities will soon be disclosed.
Viewers on SABC 1 can anticipate the return of host Zanele Potelwa, who is back in control after receiving a SAFTA nomination for Best TV Presenter for the last season. Potelwa brings back her vibrant energy, warmth, and adventurous spirit, qualities that have endeared her to fans of the show.
