Tyla reposts a tweet against Nicki Minaj
South African singer Tyla is at the center of controversy following accusations that she endorsed a provocative tweet targeting American rapper Nicki Minaj.
The situation prompted a significant backlash on X, with some users expressing concern over possible repercussions for Tyla’s career.
The artist, known for her song Water, was implicated in a post urging Nicki Minaj to withdraw from the public sphere.
This post, originating from a fan account dedicated to Nicki, criticized the rapper’s recent behavior and included a blunt directive that stated:
“Keep that album. Delete social media and hide yourself from the public. Just go away and never come back. You’re done. It’s done. You are too mentally insane to be in the public eye anymore. It was a good run. You accomplished a lot, revived an entire genre, but it’s over now.”
Following the appearance of the retweet, Tyla faced backlash, as it seemed she had supported the post.
The retweet was removed soon after, but opinions were already polarized regarding whether it was a deliberate action or an error.
The controversy drew additional scrutiny, especially considering Tyla’s friendly ties with Cardi B, who has a longstanding rivalry with Nicki Minaj, which led some to speculate that the retweet was a calculated insult.
While Nicki Minaj has not made a public statement regarding the incident, Tyla responded to the criticism with levity.
She suggested that the retweet was unintentional, humorously quoting the song Nobody’s Perfect from Hannah Montana.
“In trouble on the net again. #everybodymakesmistakes #everybodyhasthosedays #hacked,” she posted.
This playful response quickly gained traction online, amassing hundreds of thousands of likes and eliciting a variety of reactions.
Though some critics remained doubtful, numerous fans commended Tyla for maintaining a positive outlook, appreciating her light-hearted approach to a potentially negative situation.
