Unmasking the Mastermind Behind iFani's 'Msebenzi Wam' MixtapeiFani Honors the Creative Mind Behind “Msebenzi Wam” Mixtape

On Instagram, iFani shared details about the talent behind his new mixtape, Msebenzi Wam, referring to De Vise, who operates under the handle @vise_melo_metro, as “the only recording engineer that gets me.”

iFani explained that De Vise was the driving force behind each track on the eight-song project. He also added ad-libs throughout the mixtape, the only notable exception being the catchy “futsek” on track seven, “Bendingayaz,” performed by @leepearlmdashe_9.

Despite the serious tone of his praise, iFani also provided fans with an amusing peek into their studio dynamics.

The rapper shared a humorous take on De Vise’s perspective on punctuality, illustrating how a 9 a.m. session could turn into a 2 p.m. arrival due to De Vise’s apparent sleepless nights.

There is also the matter of their transportation challenges.

According to iFani’s vivid storytelling, the journey to the studio can often be an escapade, featuring a possibly intoxicated Uber driver, a cancelled ride, and unexpectedly, a quest for scones.

The twist? De Vise reportedly has no plans to share the spoils.

“Akho lekese angayityiyo plus nezi ndizifihlele abantwana,” iFani quipped, suggesting that there’s no treat De Vise will spare, including those meant for the kids.

Beneath the humor lies a sincere appreciation for De Vise’s pivotal role in the project.

“But he’s the BEST. Without him, there would be no mixtape 📀. I owe him a milli. Manyhani,” iFani added.

De Vise’s influence on Msebenzi Wam goes beyond merely recording vocals. iFani shared that De Vise produced “West Side” and the initial portion of the title track. Additionally, he arranged “Kwakhe Kwanje Phi Na” and “Into Zomhlaba,” even assisting with what seems to be a personal studio custom symbolized with the 🍊💦 emojis.

De Vise responded to iFani’s tribute with a lighthearted message: “De Vise: yo blu tus De Vise is e connec tedi 📜 suck sess fully.”

Launched at the end of July 2026, Msebenzi Wam translates to “My Work” and features artists Csana, Snymaan, Vuyo Manyike, and Vee Sholo across eight selections.

The mixtape showcases iFani’s signature style of lyricism and narrative, featuring tracks like “West Side,” “Bendingayaz,” “Into Zomhlaba,” and the two-part title track that together create a rich musical experience.

However, for iFani, the mixtape signifies more than just the songs listeners hear. His acknowledgment highlights the unsung engineers who play a vital role in transforming ideas, performances, and raw takes into polished final products.

De Vise may show up late, consume the children’s treats, and turn a simple ride into an anecdote, but as iFani’s words convey, the engineer’s contributions overshadow the chaos.

This time, iFani is keen on ensuring that everyone knows precisely who helped bring Msebenzi Wam to fruition.
