Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have navigated quite the journey since their highly public separation a few years back.
This former pair experienced a well-publicized breakup after Thompson was seen kissing Jordyn Woods, who is Kardashian’s half-sister Kylie Jenner’s former best friend. This incident was the final straw, particularly since Thompson had already garnered a reputation for infidelity during their relationship.
The scandal created a significant divide in the friendship between Jenner and Woods, with Woods facing more hostility from the family compared to Thompson.
Since then, Jenner and Woods have repaired their relationship, albeit with a less intimate bond than previously enjoyed.
Kardashian and Thompson have fostered a closer relationship as co-parents to their children, with Kardashian (41) notably supporting Thompson’s brother, who has disabilities, after the passing of their mother.
The duo engaged in a discussion on her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, where Kardashian expressed her anticipation of criticism for the interview.
“I think I’m gonna get a lot of s&%t for this podcast, but I’m ready for it,” Kardashian initiated the conversation.
This statement from Kardashian stems from the fact that the public has not quite forgiven Thompson, even though she has moved on.
Kardashian starts with an icebreaker
“I don’t think people realise that five years have gone by since you and I have broken up, but I don’t think people realise how much time has gone on and how much life has happened, and that you and I have worked hard to get to the place where we are now, that I’m inviting you on the pod, and you’re agreeing, and we’re just going to sit and have a chit chat. Would you agree?” she asked.
“Yeah, I mean, a lot of life has passed. I think it’s beautiful that you want to bring this to life, and us have a conversation at the new day. You know, we are friends first and foremost, and we have two beautiful children together. So, I think it’s healthy for people to see two parents that aren’t romantically involved still have a positive dynamic and are in a good place,” replied the 35-year-old professional athlete.
Putting the children ahead of their own issues
“I couldn’t agree more, and I think I had such a great example with my parents, and seeing even if there was fighting, because I’m sure there was, but I don’t remember any of that… I want you to be as active as and present as you want to be in their lives, and I don’t ever want to be the reason when my kids get older and they say, ‘Why wasn’t Daddy around?’ and then it would be me… We know it’s all about the kids and letting them have the best childhood and memories…” Kardashian elaborated.
“Yeah, I think the most important thing with having children is about always conducting ourselves with respect around the mother, the father, because kids hear everything, they remember everything, and I think we do a good job at that.”
“I think, like any humans, you have your disagreements and you’re going to bump heads, but I think we do a good job keeping that pride away from new kids, and I think we have matured enough over the five years where I think maybe earlier, you know, those arguments might have been a little bit more emotionally based, and now it’s more so, just wanting the best for our tribe and our little ones,” added Thompson.
“Are you nervous to be on the pod?” Kardashian inquired.
“No, not at all,” Thompson responded.
Family is important to both Kardashian and Thompson
Their candid dialogue begins with Thompson’s familial background, as well as their cooperative parenting approach.
They share two children, True (8) and Tatum (nearly four). Tatum was conceived via surrogate, as both parents decided to have another child even after their breakup.
