South Africans expressed surprise when images of the Metro FM-nominated artist attending one of her father’s court hearings appeared on social media. This has led to her becoming a subject of discussion.
As South Africans react to the fact that Thando Nje is the daughter of Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni, Briefly News gathered information about the singer.
Who is Thando Nje?
Thando Nje, whose full name is Noluthando Sibanyoni, is an R&B artist aged 31. She has not officially recognized Joe “Ferrari” Sibanyoni as her father.
She gained attention in 2018 after a notable Slikour OnLife interview where she described the meaning of her stage name. She mentioned that the Nje in her name is silent, included to indicate that Thando is not an abbreviation. Her explanation left Slikour visibly puzzled. Watch the video here:
Thando Nje’s music career
In a 2023 interview with Daily Sun, Thando shared how her passion for music began in 2015 during her university studies.
She noted that the journey of recording her own music was challenging, as it involved a significant process of self-exploration. Initially, she covered songs by other artists before moving on to create and release her own material.
“My love for music started in 2015 when I was in my first year of university. I started by doing covers, then I started writing and producing. However, finding my feet as a musician was quite a mission,” she told Daily Sun at the time.
Although she has not openly asserted that Joe is her father, the artist performed at his 60th birthday celebration in April 2026. This lavish event was held in Sandton, Johannesburg, and was by invitation only, attended by Sibanyoni’s family and friends. She performed one of her songs, Thando Nje’s Prayer, accompanied by a full orchestra.

As an independent artist, Thando Nje has put out two albums, Frequency and Stillness, along with several EPs, such as An Ode to Jah, Dimpho Tsa Lefatshe, Searching, and Set Me Free.
In 2023, she received a nomination for the Metro FM Music Award for the Best New Age R&B Artist.
