Having reportedly received an initial payment of $20 million (R324 935 600), Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Tom Holland is set for an even more lucrative compensation owing to the film’s impressive box office performance.
With total earnings exceeding $2 billion, the film’s lead actor is rumored to be in line for a backend fee amounting to at least $100 million (R1 624 678 000).
The Wrap reports that the 30-year-old actor from the UK, who took on the role of Peter Parker once again in this latest Marvel teen superhero movie, negotiated a contract that guarantees an uncapped backend fee in addition to his substantial upfront payment.
Given the film’s tremendous success at the box office, which has occurred three weeks post-launch, Holland’s earnings could exceed the initial $100 million projection, with room for further increases.
Back in 2016, Holland received just $250,000 (R4 059 375) for his debut as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, as reports Complex.
He recently featured in the eagerly awaited and successful film The Odyssey, which stars prominent actors such as Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o. In the movie, he portrays Telemachus, the son of Odysseus and prince of Ithaca, alongside his wife, American actress Zendaya (29).
The Odyssey has garnered over $1.3 billion (R21.12 billion) in worldwide box office revenue.
