Xabi Alonso is keen to evaluate Nicolas Jackson during Chelsea’s pre-season training as the forward makes his return to Stamford Bridge following a loan stint at Bayern Munich.
Softfootball reports that Bayern Munich chose not to exercise the €50 million buy option included in Jackson’s loan contract, allowing the Senegal international to head back to west London.
Although Bayern manager Vincent Kompany appreciated Jackson’s contributions as a secondary striker, the club ultimately deemed the purchase option too costly and decided against formalizing the transfer.
Alonso, Chelsea’s recently appointed head coach, is now poised to closely evaluate the 25-year-old before making any decisions regarding his future. If Jackson agrees to a role within the squad, there is a growing sentiment within the club that his presence could enhance Chelsea’s attacking options for the upcoming 2026/27 season.
