Ukhozi FM has disclosed the ten tracks vying for the prestigious title of 2025 Song of the Year, generating considerable excitement across the nation.
The reveal occurred on Monday, December 1, 2025, during a live broadcast of presenter Khathide “Tshatha” Ngobe’s afternoon show, which took place at Mojo’s Carwash & Shisanyama in Chesterville.
This time around, the radio station has implemented a new voting methodology aimed at reducing controversy and enhancing fairness.
Listeners were invited to select their favorite ten songs from a pre-selected list of 20, with the ultimate vote count determining the official entrants.
The station has faced scrutiny in the past regarding its earlier voting practices, and this update is intended to increase transparency in the competition.
The list for 2025 prominently features powerhouses Jazzworx and Thukuthela, known for their numerous hits and consistent presence on the airwaves.
One of their standout tracks, Isaka (6 AM), along with their collaboration with Ciza on the song Bengicela, has earned them considerable airtime nationally.
This duo appears three times in this year’s top ten, reinforcing their influence on the charts.
Following them, Zee Nxumalo has two entries: the well-loved Mamma and Mali, a partnership with Dlala Thukzin.
Representing the Maskandi genre, Umafikizolo’s Uyoncengwa Unyoko is the sole song from that style in a list otherwise dominated by 3-step and amapiano sounds.
Other contenders for the award include Shela by Sam Deep, Nia Pearl, Boohle, and Mano; Sjava’s Uyena; Professor and Larny’s Order; along with Awungazi by DJ Tira, Pcee, Campmasters, and General C’Mamane.
In a notable twist, the artist behind the winning song will receive a brand new VW Polo.
Voting has officially commenced, allowing fans to show their support by sending an SMS to 32253. The name of the winning track will be announced during the New Year’s crossover as listeners usher in 2026.
