Amanda du Pont
Amanda du Pont has made a significant gesture of support by donating R100,000 to Women for Change ahead of the women’s national shutdown on November 21.
The organization is asking women and girls throughout the nation to change their profile pictures to purple and participate in a 15-minute standstill at noon on Friday.
This event, set before the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, aims to honor the 15 women who are murdered daily in South Africa and to advocate for the declaration of gender-based violence as a national disaster.
Amanda’s generous donation was made through her skincare brand, Lelive, and she highlighted that this issue impacts individuals across all genders.
“I just want to acknowledge that this happens across all genders and to children as well. There are some incredible men behind the movement, so we are no longer standing alone and we welcome our entire community to stand with us. To whoever has been affected, we stand and fight for you too,” she said.
This contribution marks a significant achievement for the organization. Founder Sabrina Walter expressed her heartfelt appreciation, noting that the donation brought her to tears.
“I am crying seeing this. This is the largest donation we have ever received and knowing that it came from such a beautiful, courageous woman makes it even more meaningful. I am so proud of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
