Nota criticizes Ntsiki for seeking acknowledgment
Nota Baloyi expressed his discontent with Ntsiki Mazwai, who recently called for recognition of her role in shaping South Africa’s arts scene.
In a post on X, she referenced her achievements in areas such as beadwork, poetry, music, and podcasting, suggesting that she has opened doors for many upcoming artists.
Nota responded by accusing Ntsiki of self-absorption and envying the success of new talents.
He stated: “You’re jealous of other kids… Not once have you celebrated anyone other than yourself. You don’t celebrate your siblings. We will never celebrate you. I gave you the benefit of the doubt, now it’s time I start listening to people’s advice. You got naked for Marie Claire, colonised!”
The back-and-forth between the two artists continued for hours, capturing the interest of their followers.
Public opinion was divided; some defended Ntsiki’s assertion of her achievements, while others supported Nota, pointing to previous controversies.
