Andile Mxhakaza reflects on how his faith has influenced his decisions and outlook on life, marking a notable shift from his past.
In 2019, he made the significant choice to embrace salvation, a decision that has had a profound impact on his life, including his acting pursuits. He recently captured attention with a principal role in the drama series Isithembu SikaMsongelwa.
Additionally, he was recently announced as a new cast member for the fourth season of Isitha: The Enemy, which kicked off at the beginning of this month.
In the series, he portrays Mapholoba, a menacing criminal. Andile revealed that landing his previous role in Shaka Ilembe and his current one was challenging, but he found strength through fasting and prayer.
“After I finished filming Shaka Ilembe, things went very quiet, and I almost lost hope in life. However, my family and my faith helped me stay hopeful that things would work out one day. When I went to film Shaka, I would pray beforehand so that everything would go smoothly. By the time I got this current role, I had already packed my bags to move to another country. Just one day before my departure, I received a call informing me that I got the job. I was overjoyed and saw that my faith had worked for me,” said Andile.
He noted that the character of Mapholoba poses significant challenges for him, particularly because of the requirement to master various dialects.
“People will love Mapholoba because he is a criminal who appears to be a good person to the public, but he is ruthless to those he confronts. I believe that in the next three months, this show will become massive, and people will learn a lot from the upcoming storylines,” he said.
Andile acknowledged that he has faced numerous challenges in life, and his transformative choice has enabled him to move forward from his past.
The actor gained recognition through significant roles in productions such as Taxi Bosses, Housekeepers, Isibaya, The River, Gog’ Helen, and Zone 14.
