Mondli Thusi, recognized for his portrayal of Isaac in Generations: The Legacy, is reportedly in critical condition following an attack by two pitbulls outside his residence in Boksburg, Gauteng.
The incident occurred on May 4 within a gated community, where Thusi was allegedly bitten by the dogs while he was outside.
MDN News reports that he was taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg, where he is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries.
Sources indicate that Thusi’s condition remains serious, but he is stable.
One personal acquaintance mentioned, “Things are not okay for him; he is still fighting for his life, even though he is stable.”
As concerns mount regarding the details of the attack, questions about responsibility have surfaced, along with varying accounts about the ownership of the dogs involved.
One insider claimed that the owner is denying liability, asserting that only one of the pitbulls belongs to him, while the other has reportedly been removed by the SPCA.
This assertion has led to further confusion among those following the unfolding story.
“The issue with his case is that the owner of the two pitbulls is trying to be clever and denies owning both dogs. He is now claiming that he only owns one pitbull and that the other was taken by the SPCA,” the source stated, expressing ongoing concerns about the secure management of the animals.
Legal advisors are reportedly becoming involved, with discussions noted between Thusi’s legal team and the dog owner as the situation escalates.
At the same time, the attack has significantly impacted the actor’s ability to work as he concentrates on his recovery.
In a brief comment about the incident, Thusi confirmed it occurred and spoke about his healing process.
“I’m still in so much pain, but I’m getting better by the day. I cannot share many details since the matter is being handled by my lawyers, but I can confirm that the incident did happen,” he expressed in a voice message.
Colonel Noxolo Kweza, a spokesperson for the Gauteng police, confirmed that an investigation has been launched.
“I can confirm that we are investigating a case of keeping a ferocious dog, following an incident where a man was attacked and bitten by dogs.”
