Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma

Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is set to surrender to law enforcement on Tuesday morning amid reports of forthcoming criminal charges for allegedly inciting public violence.

The former Vuma FM presenter and activist, who leads the March and March Movement, plans to report to a police station at 7:30 a.m., where she will face formal charges and is expected to make an appearance in court.

The March and March Movement issued a statement on Monday, indicating that law enforcement had chosen to charge Ngobese-Zuma based on remarks allegedly tied to incitements of violence against illegal immigrants.

The organization affirmed that its leader is committed to cooperating with law enforcement, portraying her as a “law-abiding citizen” who aims to adhere to legal protocols.

Simultaneously, the movement expressed strong disapproval of what it called a selective approach in law enforcement.

It accused the authorities of acting quickly against South African citizens while not addressing criminal actions by foreign nationals effectively.

The organization views the charges against Ngobese-Zuma as indicative of a wider attempt to suppress activists who address issues affecting citizens of South Africa.

Despite these legal challenges, the movement stated its determination to persist with its activism.

Ngobese-Zuma has gained attention as a significant and divisive figure in national discussions concerning immigration and socio-economic issues, often eliciting both support and criticism for her candid opinions.
