Jojo Robinson diagnosed with skin cancer
Jojo Robinson, a prominent figure on South African reality television, has shared news of her significant health challenge, announcing her recent diagnosis of invasive skin cancer.
The star of Real Housewives Ultimate Girls’ Trip: South Africa communicated her diagnosis via a series of heartfelt posts on Instagram, disclosing that physicians identified cancerous cells in her chest and back.
This diagnosis emerged only weeks ago, and she is currently preparing for surgery to excise the affected tissue.
Robinson openly acknowledged that there remains some uncertainty regarding the stage of the cancer.
“I found out a few weeks ago that I have skin cancer and I have to have surgery next week to have it removed. It’s the invasive ones, and I might get skin grafts,” she conveyed.
She voiced concerns regarding the upcoming surgery, particularly noting that her body, which is extensively tattooed, complicates the possibility of skin grafts.
“The problem that I have now is that my body is 90% covered in tattoos, so where do I get skin from?” she inquired.
Medical professionals are conducting additional evaluations to assess the cancer’s depth and whether it has metastasized.
“We do not know how deep they are and I am hoping they have not gone into the bone, because apparently they can. I have had some of them for many years and I just did not know that it was cancer,” she explained.
Robinson also aimed to dispel any misconceptions, clarifying that her condition is not attributable to her tattoos.
She highlighted genetic predisposition and environmental influences as contributing factors.
“It has nothing to do with the tattoos, because it is in my genes; my mom had it, and the African sun. I have very light skin,” she noted.
In addition to the physical implications, Robinson hinted at the emotional strain she has faced during this period, describing a sense of isolation.
“It has been a lot these past few weeks. I just do not talk about it, I am just quiet. The people in my life that I thought would care just do not message me, do not speak to me. They just don’t care,” she expressed.
