Jub Jub Arrested As Police Probe Alleged Firearm Discharge. South African rapper and television personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye has once again found himself at the centre of controversy following an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver that reportedly ended with gunfire.

New developments in the ongoing investigation indicate that the incident occurred in Germiston, where tension escalated between the musician and an e-hailing driver during a conflict. Reports suggest that the argument intensified, culminating in claims that shots were fired.
“It is alleged that at approximately 7:30am, the e-hailing driver had transported a female passenger to a residence in Edenvale when he was confronted by the suspect, who accused him of being involved in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.
“The suspect allegedly forced the e-hailing driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the incident, the suspect reportedly discharged a firearm in the direction of the driver. The e-hailing driver managed to escape unharmed and immediately drove to a nearby police station to report the matter,” said Police Spokesperson Athlenda Mathe.
The events have led to several serious charges against Maarohanye, aged 39. These include charges of defeating the ends of justice, in addition to those related to the firearm discharge. Authorities confirmed that the artist was apprehended on Sunday and is scheduled to appear at the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
This incident has brought back to the forefront the complexities of Jub Jub’s career, which has been marked by moments of both success and considerable legal troubles. Once celebrated for his hit songs and later as a television host, his reputation has often been affected by incidents that keep attracting media attention.
His background includes a widely reported court case regarding a deadly drag-racing accident over ten years ago, which ended with a manslaughter conviction; he was eventually granted a presidential pardon.
As the investigation into the recent altercation continues, renewed concerns have emerged regarding the safety of e-hailing drivers. Many drivers in Gauteng have voiced their apprehensions about the dangers encountered while working, advocating for enhanced safety measures against violence and coercion. The Germiston Magistrate’s Court will be a focal point as the unfolding case proceeds.
