Gagasi FM host Linda “Mr Magic” Sibiya shared the incredible support he garnered from fellow broadcasters during his time away from the mic.
While they may not have shared a close friendship, their gestures towards Linda provided him with hope for a future return to radio.
During a segment on Podcast, Radio & Stuff, which premiered on Tuesday, 7 April, Linda expressed gratitude toward Tshata, DJ Sgqemeza, who has departed from Ukhozi FM, the late BK Mchunu, Touch, DJ Sbu, Felix Hlophe, and Alex Mthiyane for their consistent support and admiration.
In a sector where cancel culture prevails, it was uplifting to learn about the camaraderie that Linda encountered. Below is a list of radio figures that he cherishes deeply.
LINDA ON DJ SBU, TOUCH, TSHATA, DJ SGQEMEZA, BK MCHUNU…
The brotherly gestures from Tshata and DJ Sgqemeza could have potentially jeopardized their positions at Ukhozi FM, as they openly celebrated Linda on-air.
“DJ Sbu and Touch have stood by me throughout,” reflected Linda.
“Ukhozi FM’s Tshat’godo (Tshata) DJ Sgqemeza, the late BK (Mchunu). I appreciate it immensely. Tshata discussed me on [the] radio, putting his job on the line.”
“Sgqemeza would bring me into the conversation. On my birthday, he would reach out, or if something was happening, they would check in on me,” noted Linda.
GAGASI FM’S FELIX HLOPHE AND ALEX MTHIYANE
Felix Hlophe infused his humor into Linda’s Ukhozi FM show with his legendary pranks.
Linda expressed his enjoyment of collaborating with Felix, mentioning that Felix was instrumental in encouraging him to join Gagasi FM.
“He would call me regarding Gagasi and express how much he cared for me. [He said] I want you back on [the] radio. That guy truly supported me,” Linda shared.
“Alex Mthiyane delivered a profound message [to me], stating that he didn’t mind what I was engaging in, we still wanted you on [the] radio. Even if it’s not Gagasi FM, wherever you go, we need you back on [the] radio,” Linda added.
GAGASI FM: A PLACE CALLED HOME FOR LINDA SIBIYA
In April 2026, Linda officially celebrated his return to the airwaves on Gagasi FM. The Eshowe-born talent secured two shows: one on weekdays from 5 am to 6 am, and another on Sundays from 6 am to 10 am.
Looking back at his journey, Linda, who was let go from Ukhozi FM in 2014, remarked:
“The show prior to breakfast is going to be sensational. There will be fireworks, and the breakfast segment will maintain that magic,” Linda concluded.
