Nandi Madida has sparked significant discussion regarding financial issues, expectations, and gender dynamics following her recent appearance on the L-Tido Podcast.
This episode was uploaded to YouTube on January 28, 2026, and gained traction online after a clip was posted on X.
The excerpt quickly drew considerable attention, generating mixed reactions from South African men who felt that Madida’s comments resonated with their daily experiences, while others expressed dissent.
In the podcast, Madida spoke about systemic obstacles that particularly hinder financial stability for Black men.
She stated: “In a very genuine way, seriously, our Black men have gone through so much and financially, it’s almost impossible to try to empower yourself, even when you try. The system is against you. People don’t have government support. You have 400 years of being oppressed. Where is this money going to come from?”
She encouraged women to consider relationships with increased understanding and more achievable expectations, emphasizing that intentions and efforts are as important as financial circumstances.
“We do have to give fellow Black men grace. If you can see the intention is to do better and make something serious, that’s a good guy. I mean that genuinely,” Madida mentioned, noting her perspective is rooted in the South African context. “What you guys are up against?”
Additionally, Madida highlighted social media as a significant source of pressure, claiming it reinforces the idea that encountering hardships equates to failure.
She argued that the relentless focus on “getting the bag” disregards the daily struggles many individuals endure.
“Now there’s more pressure because of social media. This misconception that there should be no struggle, get the bag, get the bag, that’s not realistic in the real world,” she noted. “In the everyday world, you try the best you can.”
Someone please tell grootman Zakes Bantwini to marry her again even if he can pay triple lobola money this time. 😍😊 pic.twitter.com/wWviy4ie9o
