Surveillance Footage Reveals Timeline of Suspects in DJ Warras Shooting

Recently leaked surveillance video has provided crucial details regarding the circumstances surrounding the deadly shooting of well-known broadcaster DJ Warras, whose real name is Warrick Stock. The footage offers a more precise account of the suspects’ actions before and after the fatal event.

The recording, which has been widely shared, depicts two men suspected of involvement in the shooting that occurred on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Marshalltown, Johannesburg.

This footage has become pivotal to the State’s argument in the bail hearing of Victor Mthethwa Majola, the sole suspect presently detained.

A report from EWN on January 15, 2026, states that the CCTV footage captures DJ Warras leaving the Zambesi Building, a seized property on Von Wielligh Street, shortly after noon.

At that time, he was clad in a black T-shirt and was accompanied by another individual wearing a white T-shirt. Warras had been on the premises to assist with the setup of a biometric system in the entrance.

The footage shows the two men exiting the camera’s view towards Fox Street. During court testimony, an investigator explained that Warras briefly entered an Audi Q7 parked nearby, situated close to local street vendors.

While on the phone, he reportedly opened the passenger door, exited the vehicle, locked it, and returned towards the building.

Less than a minute later, around 12:17 pm, the video depicts a scene of panic as individuals are seen taking cover.

In the midst of this chaos, the alleged shooter can be identified in the crowd. This suspect is described as dressed in a green T-shirt, blue floral shorts, sandals, and wearing a cap.

Surveillance footage also reveals that as the suspect fled, he unexpectedly turned back to pick up an object from the ground, believed to be the keys to the Audi Q7 used by Warras.

The keys were never found, bolstering investigators’ belief that they were taken during the flight. After retrieving the object, the suspect is seen walking casually towards Fox Street.

Another camera angle captures a second suspect collecting two bags near the vendors’ stalls. One of these bags, a dark yellow gift bag, is thought to have concealed the firearm.

The two men then departed the area together, moving in the same direction.

This leaked footage has heightened public interest in the case, as it constitutes part of the evidence being debated in court.

In court, investigating officer Captain Abe Montwedi detailed the State’s narrative and described the purported involvement of Victor Majola in the shooting.

Majola’s bail hearing has encountered delays due to defense arguments over access to video evidence, asserting that he was not present at the incident, maintaining he was in Soweto at the time.

As the investigation unfolds, the emergence of this CCTV footage has proven to be a significant development, providing visual evidence of the final moments leading up to and following the death of DJ Warras and raising further inquiries into the planning of the incident.
