The fourth Business Case for Women’s Football event, organized by UEFA in Lisbon, drew key stakeholders in women’s football. In a message shared via their official x handle, UEFA emphasized how strategic initiatives are driving the sport’s advancement throughout Europe.
As noted in their statement
This morning, the most influential voices in women’s football come together to discuss the game’s future at the Business Case for Women’s Football.
This event followed shortly after UEFA’s announcement of a grassroots initiative tied to the 2026 UEFA Women’s Champions League final in Oslo, which included an invitation for young girls from the Rosa Sko Foundation to witness the match between FC Barcelona Femení and Olympique Lyonnais Féminin at Ullevaal Stadion.

The event also came on the heels of poignant moments in women’s football, where Chelsea Women F.C. shared insights from manager Sonia Bompastor and defender Niamh Charles following their victory over Manchester United Women F.C., a match that saw farewell tributes for club icons Sam Kerr and Millie Bright.
Softfootball reported that UEFA officials Giorgio Marchetti and Nadine Kessler opened the conference by discussing the significance of sustainable development in the sport.
A prominent panel featured representatives from S.C. Braga, Sporting CP, Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., and Rangers F.C., who elaborated on how investments in infrastructure, staffing, youth development, and fan engagement have proven effective.

UEFA reported that women’s clubs in Europe’s premier leagues have experienced a 187% increase in revenue over the past four years, reinforcing the notion that effective structure, visibility, league organization, and player empowerment will continue to influence the future of women’s football.
