Kabza De Small Faces Legal Troubles Over Alleged R346,000 Rent Debt

Kabza De Small's Legal Woes: The R346,000 Rent Debt Drama

Kabza de Small, a prominent figure in the Amapiano music scene, has recently become a topic of discussion online due to claims regarding unpaid rent that may lead to legal action. The reports have generated a variety of reactions on social media, with supporters of the producer defending him vigorously, while others have expressed skepticism about the financial accusations being made against him.

The situation came to light over the weekend, following coverage from various news outlets which stated that Kabza de Small, whose real name is Kabelo Motha, reportedly owes a considerable sum in unpaid rent for a high-end apartment located in Sandton. Celebrity blog Maphepha Ndaba announced on their Instagram account on Tuesday, 3 February 2026, that Kabza allegedly has an outstanding balance of about R346,000 in rent, a sum that quickly captured the public’s attention.

Daily Sun reported that Zolile Dlamini, the landlord of The Leonardo apartments in Sandton, accuses Kabza of failing to fulfill his rental commitments under a lease agreement priced at R95,000 per month. Court documents purportedly submitted to the Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, reveal that the lease was effective from 2 February 2025 to 31 January 2026.

The article further indicates that the landlord claims Kabza’s rental debt has reached a total between R345,000 and R346,000, prompting him to take legal steps. The issue has sparked significant dialogue in the public domain, especially in light of Kabza de Small’s reputation as one of South Africa’s leading music producers.

<pResponses on social media have varied widely. Some individuals have criticized Kabza and questioned how a well-known artist could allegedly fall behind on rent. However, many fans have come to his defense, suggesting that the allegations may be overstated or misleading. Supporters have also pointed out Kabza’s generally low-key lifestyle, emphasizing his dedication to his musical career rather than flaunting wealth.

In reaction to the accusations, Kabza de Small’s legal representatives have reportedly rejected the claims of misconduct. Statements made by his attorneys indicate that he has not received any formal summons and firmly denies any failure to pay rent. His legal team asserts that he has consistently submitted his rent through an authorized agent, and the landlord has reportedly accepted these payments without objection.

Kabza has previously gained attention for non-musical issues, including an incident in which he reportedly disregarded a fan while driving and past remarks hinting at a potential hiatus from music. Yet, this latest allegation has drawn more serious scrutiny, putting his personal circumstances under intense public examination.

As developments continue, many are advising caution and reminding the public that these claims remain unverified until resolved in court. For the moment, Kabza de Small remains a dominant force in the amapiano genre, even as discussions around the legal matter persist.
