Ronald Koeman has resigned as the head coach of the Netherlands national football team after the squad’s early exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Softfootball reports.
This announcement follows the Netherlands’ defeat by Morocco in the Round of 32, where they lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw in extra time in Monterrey.
Although the team performed well in the group stage, finishing first in Group F with a draw against Japan and dominant wins against Sweden (5-1) and Tunisia (3-1), their World Cup campaign was cut short in the knockout round.

Koeman announced his resignation through a heartfelt message on Instagram, stating:
I want to thank all the players with whom I have had the privilege of working. Your dedication, character, and trust motivated me every day.
The 63-year-old coach returned for a second stint with the Dutch national team after previously managing them from February 2018 until August 2020, when he took over at Barcelona.
