Zodwa Wabantu, a well-known figure in the media and entertainment industry, is currently facing legal issues after reportedly missing two scheduled appearances in KwaZulu-Natal on September 26, despite having received full payment for her participation.
Her bookings were made through Igezaa Production Company, a notable media organization based in Durban and led by Scelo Sibiya, who is a recognized TV producer and businessman.
The company, which excels in event organization, podcast production, and music videos, engaged Zodwa for two distinct events—one in Nongoma and another at the Oasis Club in Durban.
Event organizers were left astounded when Zodwa did not appear on the day of the events, resulting in disappointment for numerous fans who were eager to see her.
Sibiya expressed his dismay in a heartfelt statement, criticizing Zodwa’s conduct as fraudulent and damaging to the reputation of the South African media and entertainment sector.
“I am deeply shocked by this behavior. Zodwa is killing careers by repeatedly failing to appear at events, and there are already many similar rumors trending about her around Durban.”
Legal action is now in progress, according to Sibiya, who indicated that Zodwa will be summoned to appear in court. He also mentioned that some financial invoices are being withheld pending a thorough investigation into the situation.
Sibiya’s main objective is to recover the funds he lost, stating, “All I want is my refund. That is all.”
Zodwa Wabantu has disputed the allegations against her, though she has yet to provide evidence to support her claims of innocence.
