The Electoral Board of Real Madrid CF has issued an official statement responding to complaints from presidential candidate Enrique Riquelme prior to the club’s elections set for June 7, 2026, as noted by Softfootball.
This statement was made public through the club’s official English X account shortly after Real Madrid confirmed the valid candidacies for the election, where both current president Florentino Pérez and Riquelme will compete.
The Electoral Board stated that no candidate was allowed access to the club’s electoral census, addressing claims of favoritism toward Pérez’s campaign.
According to the board, all candidates received the same written guidelines concerning campaign materials and communication with club members, and Riquelme had been personally informed about the procedures.

The statement also tackled worries about the security of postal voting, which have prompted discussions among supporters on social media.

The board emphasized that all actions are being executed in full compliance with club bylaw and Spanish electoral laws. Additionally, representatives from the candidates may maintain continuous monitoring access near the area where postal votes are stored, promoting transparency in the electoral process.
Responses from fans on social media have largely favored Pérez, with many dismissing Riquelme’s allegations and expressing support for the long-standing president as he seeks to prolong his tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu.

On a different note, Real Madrid continues to be active in the transfer market. Reports suggest that Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté is in advanced discussions regarding a potential transfer to Madrid upon the expiration of his contract. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have allegedly finalized a deal to acquire Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries by activating his €20 million release clause, with medical examinations and other formalities to follow.
